Abingdon Residents have been invited to give their views on the July floods in the town at a public meeting called by local MP, Dr Evan Harris.
He will be joined at the meeting by local Liberal Democrat councillors, representatives of the Vale of White Horse District Council, Oxfordshire County Council and the Environment Agency. It is hoped that representatives of other agencies will also be able to attend.
Members of the public will be invited to put their questions and comments to the panel at the meeting on Friday 16th November at 7pm in the Guildhall Abingdon.
Evan Harris said: "The response of the various agencies involved in dealing with the floods in July was very positive but there will always be lessons to be learned from such events. It will be extremely useful to hear what residents have to say and then get responses from the panel. This will help us all to move forward to prepare for future events."
Cllr Samantha Bowring represents Abingdon Ock Meadow where over 600 homes were flooded. She said: "Many of us feel that questions remain unanswered, particularly regarding the very late flood warnings and plans for future flood prevention. I am very pleased so many of the agencies involved in helping residents, including the Environment Agency, Oxfordshire County Council and the Vale of White Horse District Council, have responded to our invitation to come and listen to residents."
